Was surfing the web and see Wholesale Sports has a Swiss K31 on the wall.

Been wanting one of these for a while.

Can anybody comment on the quality of the K31 from WSP if you have purchased one from them.

Thanks in advance.

Can't comment of the WSP as I don't know who they are lol. but K-31 in general are pretty nice. Their are probably a few rough ones out their, but if you make sure to hand pick your rifle you should be fine. Pick the stock you think is attractive and make sure the metal is in good order as well. Bores can be hard to judge as I believe they are full of Cosmo or grease (mine was, but one patch revealed a very nice bore).

Pick up a crate of ammo while your their if they have it and have fun with it.

I picked mine up from WSP and I went through a few before picking one that had the nicest bore. My stock is chewed a bit, but I think a good Milsurp should have some used patina. I almost bought a second one as I love shooting mine, and I still might.

They seem to be scraping the bottom of he barrel. I found a nice one in Edmonton after passing up a couple cracked ones. If your nice try and get them to let you look for a troop tag under the butt. bore condition is generally awesome since they never used corrosive ammo in those guns.

Been looking for a nice one myself, I never pulled the trigger when they were plentiful and now Iam regretting it, since I cant find one in good enough shape to appease me

Just bought one , not from WSP, but anyways, if you haven't got one already, get one!!! For the $300.00 or less your going to spend, you won't find a new gun any more accurate for under a $1000.00. Scoping can be a problem. But great quality rifle. Put a newer style stock on ,if you wish or go to the range and embarrass your friend , while you out shoot there $1000.00 rifle . :)
The GP11 ammo is match quality ammo, right out of the box.
Cheers

scopes on a k31 are no problem, just get the "swiss products" clamp on scope mount. works great and even returns to zero if you decide to remove the scope and reinstall it. i have a 40mm scope on mine and can still even use the iron sights up to 500 meters with the scope installed. will take a bit of getting used to the slight offset mounting but i hold the rifle at a slight angle so the scope is dead center above the bore. only problem i fins is that i cant get a cheek weld. been contemplating on modifying the stock or making a new one.... someday. the k31 is my go-to hunting rifle as well as target rifle to show off to my buddies.... short and long range.
GP11 for target shooting and Norma 180 grain soft point for hunting. point of impact is virtually the same with both rounds in my rifle. although 180 is a bit much for deer, i dont want to go with less due to change of POI.

I just recently bought a nice K31 at WSS here in Winnipeg for $299 ,it was in very nice condition ,bore was excellent, the butt stock was not all "beaver" chewed and in very nice shape.I only had to pick through two of them ,and even the first one was pretty nice ,and indeed ,mine had the plastic tag behind the buttplate ,very cool.I also bought a crate of ammo for $299 (480 rounds)

I`m very glad I decided to get off my arse and pick one up ,I suggest you do the same.

Cheers

Someone mentioned in a previous thread that's worth repeating. Check the front post as they come in varying thickness and height. At shorter distances, a thick post may not be too bad but a problem at longer distances.

Might be an idea to think about a removable check pad instead of altering the stock.
Have a buddy in the states that used to work here in Montreal who makes leather accessories.
Good stuff, but there is a long wait. Custom crests or plain, right or left handed.

One of mine.

Looking at the clamp on scope mount. But I shoot left handed, so don't know how well, eye position would be. I did see someone that had added off set rings to center the scope above the bore, but don't have anything on how well its would hold 0.

IMHA opinion, centered over bore is highly overrated.
Offset mounting, especially when a short distance as with the K31 mounts, is not a big deal.
It was made offset to prevent ejection interference with the K31's top ejection.
Unless a person has a serious neck injury, they should be good to go as it was intended
