The idea crossed my mind to take my K31 out once or twice to the deer stand. However i don't want to have to adjust the sights. It is currently zeroed for 100 yards using GP11. I am wondering if anyone has ever hand loaded theirs to hunt with. If so what bullet, powder combo you use? Don't care what the bullet is as long as it is an expanding bullet of some type. Just want it be able to work out a load that is zeroed somewhere within minute of deer without moving the sights.

Do you have a Chronograph?
I think I would just take 180gr bullets and load a bunch from the start load to the max load and shoot until they hit where the GP11 is, if you have a Chronograph you could match the velocity but bullet shape will change things a bit anyway, so building up a load anyway, just load to hit the POI you want as long as that is in the safe range and no signs of pressure.

I use a 150gr Win PPSP /Fed 210 /Privi brass/44gr IMR 4895/OAL 2.893" and it shoots .652" 3 shot groups at 100 yards with Swiss steel side mt and a 6x Leupold .I can shoot .75 with GP11 and irons.Shot a large mule doe at about 125 yards and she spun a little semi-circle DOA.

Pull some GP11 bullets and seat a 168gr interlock in its place to the same overall length... Aim two inches further to the right at 100 yards.
Going to do it this way. 18 brass deprimed and ready for the polisher. I have some berdan primers that i need to put to good use.
If reloading the GP11 cases, remember to remove de-caping pin when resizing the brass.
Which Berdan primers do you have?
Yea i do this for 8mm mauser sometimes reloading mexican surplus brass. I have RWS primers. Black ones. Non corrosive of course. I also have a bag of 100 S&B 7.5 swiss brass i haven't opened yet. For some reason i keep making excuses not to open it.

Yeah, gotta love Lee dies... I use several but the built in pin is a pain...
I use an RCBS berdan decapping tool and a Hornady .30cal neck sizer for GP11 cases, easily get 3 firings just neck sizing before they start getting tight to chamber but every rifle is different.
Careful with GP11 brass... It is super soft and really easy to crush the shoulder with anything but a slender boat tail bullet.

Easiest way to de-prime GP-11 brass is with a socket extension that fits inside the neck.Put the brass in a shellholder on the cement floor ,spread a towel then a piece of plywood. Fill the case with water and drive the extension with a hammer. Pops primer right out water stays on the towel.Can be done outside on the deck weather permitting.

Lee decapping pins are cheap, get another one and break off the pin, now you can have one with just the expander ball.
Also, take a look at how far up the expander ball is, it may be possible to back the decapping pin/expander ball up high enough that it does not hit the primer anvil but still sets the neck size.
