Finally took the buttplate off my K31, and there was a nametag underneath, as has been reported previously. Serial number on one side, on the other:
Horber Hans 29
Strada iE
Stab. Kp. 114
Any ideas, apart from the name of the soldier?
The wood under the butt is stamped III 42. March '42?

At first glance, this seems like an ownership tag. I.E. marking your uniforms so no one grabs yours mistakenly from the laundry and wears them.

Found this site after a quick search.

I'm definitly right to say that this take is a pers. info tag.

On this site I found the #114 refered to an Art Reg. within the 6th Panzer Division under GenMaj. Franz Landgraf. Also Stab shows up a lot but not as you have it.

Horber Hans born 1929
Strada iE ??? Strada Tschlin?
Strada usually means Path or Way like the German Strasse for street..

Stab. Kp. 114 = Staff Company 114

Correct, Rifle is most likely has a 1944 or 1945 serial number, 1944=786551-838450, 1945= 838451-864650. Rifles usually have stocks made two years or so earlier, at least.

This was the one that came in mine:
FAESSLI, FRANK 35
SAELISTRASSE 21
SCHOENENWERD SOL.
NACHRICHTEN-KP.11

Nachrichten-KP 11 = Signals Company 11

SCHOENENWERD is a Swiss municipality in the district of Olten. Schönenwerd commune (Solothurn canton, Switzerland)

Thats all I could find. I'm not very good at this yet considering how much diopter found. But still, I find this a lot of fun.

my 1911 carbine had a similar paper slip ...............from my looking it up on the internet it was a very common practise amongst swiss regular and reserve =( every one else in switzerland after there mandatory army service) to mark there personal issue gun in such a manner.
after 55yrs of age(no longer required to be in reserves) quite a few kept there rifle for fun /target shooting.
