So I just picked up my first k31 the other day.

When I run the bolt in the action I hear a metal-on-metal grinding noise coming specifically from the op-rod. When I cycle the action multiple times there is fresh tiny metal chips on top of the op-rod. I cleaned the bolt and action very throughly and the problem still persists; the action is a tad smoother but there is still something wrong. I am using frog-lube CLP paste as lubricant and a little bit of G96 brand CLP spray in hard to reach areas.

I appreciate everyone's help, hopefully everything goes well

Update/Edit: I bought some lithium grease, I heard that it's a good alternative to waffenfett. The action feels better but there is still some grinding. I haven't shot the rifle yet, maybe she just needs to be warmed up?

First you are using wrong lubricants on this rifle. Use waffenfet which is grease that should be in your cleaning kit that these rifles were sold with. If no then you need axle grease or alike for bolt and action. my rifle came packed with sand and dirt so tear it apart and clean with soapy water and hose everything down. Pics may help as well if possible.

Impossible to tell without seeing the Lug on the Operating Rod.
Clean the grease off in a few days, look for new wear or burrs.
See what might be causing it and smooth out those area and regrease.

Did you give it a good cleaning? Whenever I get a new milsurp I spend an evening with toothbrushes, q-tips, paper towels, bottle brushes, etc. and clean every nook and cranny. I actually enjoy it. I put on a podcast and discover every piece.
Take the bolt right apart. It's easy after you do it once.
You can get a paint spray gun cleaning kit at Princess Auto or Peavey Mart that has an assortment of bore brushes that are excellent for cleaning inside bolts, cocking pieces and even receivers and chambers.
Once you have it apart and go through it you should be able to find the burr or whatever is causing the shavings.

Looks ok. The Whiter spots behind the lug in this pictures looks like where the chips might be coming from.

I would clean again, look for burrs, smooth out any you find and re-grease it lightly

If I run into any burs how would I smooth them out?

Here's a video of me playing with the action. I change the amount of force im applying to the bolt multiple times within the video. With alot of force it looks and sounds fine. I then move the bolt slowly and it feels alot more rugged. Then you can later hear the metal grinding like I mentioned.
