Hey guys
I am kicking around the crazy idea of taking a K31 and using it as my hunting gun, I cant find any new production hunting guns that turn my crank. But my question is can I mount a scope on one of these beauties? Im sure lots of you will think Im crazy but I love milsurps so I figure stick with what you love even if it needs some modification. Im open to a side mount even if it would require cutting into the stock. Anyone with pictures of it done feel free to post experiences!

I definitely am a purist but it gives me an excuse to buy two! Also I went on that site but couldnt find anything on a scope for it? Did u order your mount from them? Can u easily get these mounts in Canada?

Tradex has the scope mount. $74.95. Inexpensive, one bolt clamp system, very solid. Use their search for K31 scope mount, and it will take you right to it.

The manufaturer is actually "Swiss Products, LLC".

You can use practically any scope that's out there with a REASONABLY sized object lens.
Larger than 40mm requires high scope rings. Rings have to be 3/8" dovetail rings(.22lr), Not included.

Doesn't the dovetail resemble a .22 type with no provision for keeping the rings from sliding forward? Not a Weaver style with notches cut.Harold

Yes, it is a dovetail for 3/8" .22 rings. There is a ledge at the front to keep the front ring from sliding forward.

All you have to do is use the word "Swiss" in any of the subject lines and you have Diopters full and undivided attn.

PS, that is some really nice looking wood on your rifle Diopter. Did you refinish it yourself?

No, not by me.
A.F.A.I.K, the wood and finish has not been touch since that rifle was refurbed in at the Bern Arsenal.

Not a ledge, but a sustantial machined-into-the-mount stop. You can see it clearly in diopter's excellent pic. Once you have your scope mounted on this, it will not move anywhere. Trust me, I have three SP mounts - all are made the way you'd expect the Swiss to make them if they lived in Kalispel Montana. The alloy used in the construction of two of them is half the weight of steel and with its deep surface-penetrating anodised finish, a good deal harder.

As I noted, I have three SP mounts - the old [up to 600m] diopter unit and foresight, the newer and highly spiffy P/S version [up to 1000m] - made of steel, and adjustable for eye relief, and the scope mount. For the purists, please note that the Swiss Federal Shooting Association fully authorises the use of the Swiss Products P/S diopter sight - something that took twelve years and a number of prototypes to achieve - none of the prototypes were ever returned, BTW. This is something that no other similar sight made outside Switzerland has ever managed to achieve.

If diopter is feeling charitable, he might post the pics of this new sight on my K31.

K31 would make an excellent stand rifle for deer. I wouldn't want to do much walking with it, as the gun will be a good 12 lbs by the time you load the mag, and add scope, mount, etc. I have the Swiss Rifles mount, and a 4X12.5 Leupold on one of mine. It's deadly accurate - easy 3"group at 200yds when shot quickly. It's naughty on coyotes out to 300yds. The FMJ GP11 are awesome for keeping pelt damage to the bare minimum.

Does anyone have a problem with the rounds hitting the bottom of the scope? Its a top ejection type so I figured a side mount might save my scope or is this not an issue?

When you use them a lot, you should get a feel for how much energy to put into bolt manipulation and how to ease up just before rim contacts the ejector. Case can just drop out.
