Just got my K31 and I tore it down, degreased, oiled and lubed and put her back together. This is my first one, and I was under the impression (reading on the net) that operating the bolt would be smooth as butter....well, it's not. If I operate it quickly it is very smooth, but just easing it back and forth requires quite a bit of effort. I've lubed all the contact points I can see so mabey this is just normal? Is it?
I know it's a battle rifle and was designed to be worked, I just thought it would pretty much cycle on it's own from what I read on the net.

That's as it should be. Don't be too gentle.

Push the bolt handle forward with the heel of your hand and pull the handle back with your middle two two fingers.
With some practice, you'll find you can keep your hand shaped like a "Ω" and work the bolt with your arm and hand working like a connecting rod on a crankshaft.

Its normal :) When shooting Slap it back with the palm of your hand and push it closed in a sharp motion dont worry you wont break it!

Cool. Thanks folks. I'm just sizing up some .284 brass.....glad I upgraded to a bigger press recently. Takes a little bit of force to size them.....
What a good suggestion for working up a load with Varget? I can't find very much load data on the net and most of it is VV and all I buy is Hodgdon, of course no H414 when I was at the shop today. I was thinking using .308 data would be a good place to start as the case is smaller so pressure would be less in the 7.5.....
I also have some WC735 which is 5% faster than H335 but I don't think it would be ideal for this cartridge.
I'm hyper to shoot this thing, I'll have it out Saturday for a run and load developement. If she's a shooter there will be some St.Marie sights going on it. I just started playing with my P14 with parker hale target sights on it.......it's alot of fun turning in groups with irons that other guys on the line can't do with a scope.

Watch it, someone will be along soon to tell you it's impossible to shoot that well with iron sights.
Amazing what some practice can do, isn't it? Iron's are great fun.

Now that I have this thing in my hands, how exactly does the St.Marie diopter clamp on? I'm having trouble seeing where it would attatch on the right side.....
