Just a heads-up. Wholesale Sports has the Swiss K31's on sale right now.

$70.00 off for the rifles (299.99) and $80.00 a case off the ammo ($299.99 a case)

I picked up a rifle and 2 cases of ammo this morning.

I got mine in Prince George. They had at least 2 more rifles in stock (checked out 3 before I picked mine), and a whole stack of ammo. At least 50 cases.

Rifle was made in 1940 and in not too bad a shape. I got lucky and found the "troop tag" under the butt plate.

OK,
Here's a question: does anybody know if the serial number should match the number stamped on the shoulder of the barrel where it screws into the receiver? My rifle has a refurb date of "55" stamped on the tang. The serial number of the receiver/bolt is 6031xx. The number on the barrel is 269610. I checked the "Useful Information" in the stickies and can't see a serial # of 269610.
Has my rifle been re-barreled with a barrel from a rifle that was never made?

Here are some photos of the stamping on the barrel (hidden by the stock & handguard).

I just picked one up 1943 walnut stock blueing is a little worn but still nice shape it was the only one that came with a sling

The 3 that I checked over all had slings and muzzle protectors. Mine's got a beech stock. I'm waiting now for the walnut stain to dry and I'll start putting the linseed oil to it.

I went to the store in Langley this afternoon to check out their stock of K31s. They had 5 in stock but would only let me see 2. Too much bother to show me more. One had a sling and the better of the 2 didn't. The guy was a bit hesitant to swap the sling??? I decided to buy one and told the guy I would pay for it and pick it up Monday as I was on my bike today. He said they couldn't do that. Really??
I'll decide later if I'll go back.

Barrels had their own serial numbers.
After attaching to a receiver, then they put the last three digits of rifle's serial number on the barrel.
See link below for the exceptions.

I went out and shot the rifle again yesterday.
Tried the new batch of ammo (1979 vintage)
With the replacement front sight blade (thanks again, diopter) bullet impact was 2" above point-of-aim at 100 meters instead of 6" like it was last week.

1979 vintage ammo shot just as well as the 1992 ammo. Smelled a little different, but 3 shots in 3/4" and 2 shots out a little farther. made 2 1/2" group.

Me, I'd advise them to shove their merchandise where the sun don't shine, but then I was never famous for being diplomatic. Are they in the Gun-selling Business or the Gun-storage Business?

What a bunch of klutzes.
