Just thought I would ask the brain trust what they thought the value would be for this WWII k98 bayonet. Seems to be all original.

K98 Bayonet

Lets see the blade and better pictures of the pommel it looks lightly pitted.
Also are the numbers, year of manufacture, and letters matching on the bayonet and scabbard.
These things determine the price, and the right markings make it worth more.

Markings on the blade and scabbard, if match, bayonet value is greatly increased. Also is there a RBNR number on the back, or a maker stamp on the frog?

The leather and scabbard looks quite worn, so its not going to fetch top dollar, however, depending on blade condition and serial numbers you could still fetch 150 ish or more.

More info...

Here is a picture of the blade. It looks like someone tried to sharpen it on a rock ;) There are numbers on both sides of the hilt of the blade; S/155G on one side & 8353 on the other. The sheath has the #2567

Sharpend blades tend to devalue the bayonet quite a bit as k98k were not allowed to be sharpend. Also, it is mismatched.

My honest opinion on value would estimate it at; 80-100 max

So what's worth more? His non-refurb bayonet, or a refinished bayonet that has a matching grip and scabbard?

Depends, what kind of refurb bayonet, would there be additional serial number markings, like a yugo refurb, or simply a reblue at some point?

Roughly Id say a non refurb, even when non-matching, will be worth more than any refurb.
