Guess?
I have been looking for a cleaning rod and site hood for my k98 and I happened upon Ima-usa after watching Family Guns. The kit is onsale now, so I bought one. In case anyone else is interested....

Original & New Made Items: Set includes an original 98k Cleaning Kit, that has the spoon, bore chain, brush, and oil bottle. Also included is a fine quality new made brown leather cross hatched sling with replicated WWII markings, a new made 12" cleaning rod, reproduction sight hood, and new made rubber muzzle cover.

Well, I guess there wasn't much interest in this post.......but I got my kit today. I am very happy. As I expected, the hood and sling are repro, but the tool kit is definitely WWII. I am very happy. Some pics....

how would I determine if I need a 10" or 12" cleaning rod for a 1939 Sauer ? And of course I have a repro sling in the mail from Marstar. Guess I'd have to buy another K98 for the extra sling lol

Out of curiosity, does the cleaning kit tin have any markings on it? WWII dated cleaning kits, with the contents, tend to go for $80 - $100 on eBay and other collectors sites, so IMA selling it along with a repro sling and sight hood for $50, coupled with an ambiguous description, makes me a little suspicious. If it is actually a wartime dated one though, great deal!

There are no perceivable markings in or on the case, but I can tell you it smells like it has been stored for decades. Perhaps the lack of markings is why it is cheaper. IMA knows what to sell high and what to sell for less, that is for sure :D. I am happy with the deal.

The lack of any markings means it's almost certainly a post-war one. Not that that's a big deal if you're just looking for a representative piece and, like you say, for the three items $50 still isn't a bad deal.
