Hello everyone. I recently purchased a Kar98k Russian capture. The rifle is magnificent to say the least. My only gripe is the floor plate front catch. Someone (Russians?) has either ground or filed it off so its short and does not catch anymore. It pops loose. It has been electro penciled to match to the rifle, so i would like to keep it. I was thinking of getting the welder out and tacking on the end and build it up and then file it back to shape.
Any thoughts? Or should I save myself time and effort and just get another floor plate.

Thanks in advance.

Those floorplates are available, maybe even in Canada. Marstar or Intersurplus, banner advertisers likely have them in stock.

They may even have one without a serial number stamped into it. I picked up some Swede Mauser floorplates, which were NOS from Intersurplus.

If you were to replace the floorplate, it would not detract from the value or esthetics of the rifle IMHO.

Thanks for your help, could you send the banner advertisers link possibly? All that’s coming up is anything but firearm parts.
Cheers
