Hi can anyone shed some light on this one. I saw a ww2 german built k98 yesterday( had waffennaupt markings) with a Remmington .22 barrel added. This did not apper to be a bubba job. VG cond.

Sounds like an Israeli conversion. Israel obtained large quantities of K98k rifles in the late '40s from Czechslovakia. Eventually many were rebarrelled to 7.62, and some were converted to .22 for use as training rifles.

Yes, Israeli trainer, two types are seen :

- Full lenght military rifle

- Sporterized type halfstock with rear peep sights and globe front sight.

Mine has a German receiver with Mod. 98 on it. The Czech receivers are much more common and will have Czech writing on them.
