k98/m24/m48 bayonet question...

Are the Yugo mauser bayonets such as for the m24 or m48 compatible with k98 and k98k rifles and vice versa? And considering my k98 is a 7.62 israeli rebuild, will the loop over the barrel that the yugo bayonets have and not hte original k98 barrels have fit snug? Wondering if the 7.62 barrels are a different outside diameter.

Howdy Chuck, hey you should send me a pic of your isreali rebuilt I would like to take a look at it, in the meantime I think the bayonet loop will not be a problem, but if I was you, I would just try to buy a nice k98 bayonet on ebay, that is what I did, managed to pick one up for about $50 US. It's orig, so I don't mind. But the Yugo bayonets are got for cheaper.

The Israeli M98k rifle uses the standard German 98k bayonet (without the muzzle ring of the Yugo M48). Israeli M98k rifles did not use the cleaning rod of the German 98k and can be found with or without the front sight cover. Stocks are laminated wood and metal parts are stampings.
 
K98 Mauser Bayonet

The German K98 bayonets are different from the Yugo Bayonets because of one noticable difference, the point. The Yugo bayonets have a sharper point than the K98. Go with a Yugo for now, they fit your Israeli Mauser. Look for a good K98 bayonet in the future. The Yugo bayonets will go up in price if they are in mint condition because of the quality. Not too many bayonets in new condition, and of that quality coming on the market, might be a good investment.

Fits on my '44 byf Mod.98 quite nicely . Upturned blade similar to a Steyr bayo.

Mauser Bayonet

Nice bayonets Timbarland. The top one looks like a Czech VZ 24 short bayonet. An noted in Kiesling Vol I, #193.

There are three or four types the first being the 1895 with a ring that fits the M-1895 Mannlicher rifle. Kiesling Vol I #78

The next would be a VZ 23 which is long with muzzle ring, and used by Lithuania, Iran, and South America. Kiesling Vol II, #309

The next would be the the VZ 24 Short with muzzle ring. There are three types of these. The first had the muzzle ring. Second one had the ring ground off under German occupation. The last one was manufactured under the occupation without the ring. Kiesling Vol I #193

The One I am looking for is a VZ 33 to go with my VZ 16/33 Police Carbine. It looks like the VZ 24 style but fits on a Mauser with a short bar. Kiesling Vol I,

The bottom bayonet is VG and is a German M 1884/98 with composition grips.
Kiesling Vol I, #143. I have a few of them and if you can find one with matching scabbard that's a plus.

I have one converted by Norway for the M1 rifle similar to Kiesling Vol IV, #816. The scabbard is modifies to go on the US Web Belt.

Very nice bayonets,especially the german one.I would like to know what the makers marks + serial #s are on the bayonet,scabbard + leather frog.You've got a nice start to a good collection.
 
The cz24 bayo has a 11 3/4" blade and a double circled Z on the blade

The K98 bayo frog has , on the belt loop;
Fried. Schafer
Ulm/Do.

Down further is what appears to be (S)VHD ?
The blade has ;
42 cul , in stylized letters on one side , the other side is 9661 and a stylized j under that.On the top of the handle is 2 warbirds with WaA519

One other K98 bayo I have was a bring back by my Uncle who was with the Canadian Artillery WWll and he had it chromed...also has a small notch cut out of the handle.
The frog is unmarked.
On the blade is ,
Berg & Co. , and on the other side is 804 with a F under that.
4 warbird stamps on the handle with WaA253
