K98 Mauser from 30-06 to 308

I have found a k98 re chambered in 30-06 but really wanted one in 308.
Can any one tell me if there any changes required to have 308 feed reliably after the barrel swap?
Since the 308 is only about a 1/4" shorter I cant see why I should not work without mods.

shouldn't be , the Israelis did that with their K98s .

You might just want to buy an Israeli K98 as they are already chambered for 308.
