K98 question

I was looking at a Yugo capture Steyr (660) dated 1940......noticed an additional stock screw roughly in the area - say about 2 'oclock for lack of a beter description :) - of the pistol grip if you are looking at the right side of the rifle.

Don't have a pic at this time.....appreciate input. Thanks,
 
I think Yugo armorers would put in a pin to reinforce stocks that sometimes had a hairline crack between the trigger assembly and the magazine well. My Yugo K98 has one as well.
Another opinion is that these were German modifications to strengthen the stock to allow for use with the K98 grenade launcher.
I think most agree with the first idea.
