Hey guys, I have an 1941 K98 that id like to turn into my hunting rifle. only issue right now is finding the right scope mount out there that I don't have to drill, tap or cut out some wood to mount. I also do not want one of those long eye relief mounts as I already have a scope to throw on it.

I went through a similar exercise recently, with a 1941 Israeli Mauser. I am not aware of an option for a "no smith mount" that is also not a long eye relief scout scope. All options that I have seen involve removing the rear sight and replacing it with a scope mount. I used a Vortex Crossfire 11 scout scope, model CF2-31002, 2 to 7 power zoom. The mount was a bit tricky I eventually settled on the S&K scout mount that fits into the rear sight bracket.
