hi everyone i got a question i picked up a k98b for 150 bucks has original stock but unfortunatley the last owner refinished the stock and reblued the metal however even thouugh lost as a collector gun i figure i might use it as a tinker/target gun so i think i will put on a recoil pad and a scope mount, but where in Canada can you buy a scope mount for k98s i saw one a guy had on a yugo it came of the rear sight and came back above the bolt thus giving room for bolt operation and it looked pretty sharp any inf would be great

K98 Scope Mounts

I just went through a similar search...

http://www.canadiangunnutz.com/forum/showthread.php?t=179340

I was looking for a scope mount that would allow me to scope the rifle without drilling the receiver... and ruining the collector's value...

You basically have 3 choices...

1) A Scout Mount: Mounts onto the front sight, so you'll need a long eye relief scope. As an example, there are the S&K mounts, or you may find one on EBay.

Will end =up looking something like this

2) A receiver mount: These ones basically clamp onto the receiver just behind the barrel and are made of aluminum... then you have to inlet the stock a bit... but again no drilling... A common one I've seen out there is made by ATI... and is sold by several companies including Marstar, Districorp, Milarm...

3) An Extended Scout Mount: These attach to the front sight as above, but then have a long arm extending over the reciever so you can use regular scopes... I found one on EBay and am awaiting its arrival, but you can also order them online...http:// www.iron-elite.com/k98k.html

Hope this helps.
