What are the chances of finding a 1930's or early 40's walnut stock and barrel bands etc. for a 42 code 1938 mauser. I can get one but the stock has been sportered years ago. Don't know much about Mausers, just got my first today and already looking for an excuse to get another one.

"...What are the chances..." Exceedingly slim.
"...looking for an excuse to..." "I want one." is reason enough. Full military rifles are still around.
30 years ago, the shop I worked in, got some Portugese contract K98 rifles, still in the grease. Pre-war with laminated stocks. Literally in mint condition, including the matching bayonet. $215 in the early 80's. Been kicking myself ever since for not buying one.
"...Don't know much about Mausers..." This'll help some. There are lots of books too. Your local gun shop or Amazon.

Thought the chances were slim but I am quite impressed with my first Mauser and can't wait to get another. The Winchester sickness was bad enough now I have this affliction too.
