k98k

We need more info than that to give you a price estimate. Maker, year of manufacture, etc, make a difference in the price. Pictures would help also.

Unless I'm mistaken, "byf" is the marking for the Mauser AG Oberndorf factory. The "42" should mean it was made in 1942, and in that year, byf made 380421 K98k rifles, serial # range from 209-459nn.

I may be wrong here, this is not my area of expertise.

I don`t think so because none of the markings have bin tampered with and the numbers are all matching. But I`m not sure. I`m trying to get some pics up so you guys can help me out.

Is the serial # in the range I posted? Are there any other markings that could be the date of manufacture (42 was the original factory code for byf)? And as said, if it's matching w/ bayonet and not a forced match, it's worth a lot. Take detailed photos of the serial #'s, sometimes the old #'s will be machined off and re-stamped as matching to be passed off as a collectors item.

If you upload the pictures onto photobucket (or similar) first, they can then be embedded here.
