So, I'm a big fan of KAC and their products...who isn't? But I'm wondering about their 0-600m BUIS. I like the idea but I'm wondering from people that have used them, with which barrel length and projectile/load (prob M855?) are they accurate with? I know it makes a big difference, anyone who has shot a 20" and 16" @ 600m with the same ammo will agree. Can anyone give any insight on this? I have a shorter barrel...12.5 so maybe it won't even work for me past 200m?

Does your club have a 600 m range?
Do you shoot out to 600 m on a regular basis?
Do you shoot out to 600 m, so much that there is a very good chance your primary optic will go down, so you will need a BUIS that can reach out to 600 m?
Finally and most importantly can you see the target out to 600 m with your naked eye?

If you answer to just one "no" to the above questions. I would say save your money and puts it towards another KAC product ;)

I am not found of open sights since i got older, but i have to admit these sights are very eays to shoot, i am hitting the target easy at 200 yards, with my Mod 3... JP.

If you are looking for accurate shooting (actually hitting a figure 12 or similar target) out to that distance with irons, you are better off with A2 type sights where you can dial up your elevation come ups individually for the round and load you are using. Some sight manufacturers make 'national match' type irons where the elevation is in smaller (1/4 moa) increments to facilitate differing ammo.

The majority of sights that just have a preset distance, and no way to fine tune are likely set to the drop of issue ball ammo out of a 20" barrel. But that will always be an approximation, as temperature, barometric pressure, altitude, etc. will all affect how it shoots and your drop. Effective range with those irons out to 600m in a military setting is as part of a section though, so 'effective fire' in that conotation is (or at least should be) different to someone target shooting.

With a 12.5" barrel I'd recommend getting basic sights if you are not actually looking to target shoot on a regular basis with it at those distances, and settle with a 200m or 100m zero.

The KAC Rear sight is extremely adjustable. Anywhere between 200m and 600m ;)

I have this sight on my rifle with a 14.5" barrel and I like it. If i were using it in a CQB role I would prefer the 300m model. It's nice to be able to fine tune the elevation if you are engaging a known distance target. I don't regret buying it. You should be happy with it.
