Pretty cool.

Auto Ordnance unveiled a .22 LR variant of their Thompson line at SHOT Show 2026, bringing the Tommy Gun profile to rimfire shooters. The company built this around an aluminum receiver with polymer furniture finished to simulate wood grain, keeping production costs down while maintaining the classic Thompson silhouette. The MSRP sits at $999.

Note: As of writing this Kahr Firearms Group/Auto Ordnance do not have a product page up. When it is it should be found here under the latest filter.

The new .22 LR Thompson uses simulated stick magazines based on the 10/22 pattern. Basically a rotary magazine with a faux body. Magazine compatibility requires clarification: the magazines feature a guide rail system that mates with the Thompson's magwell, and some early product listings have stated standard 10/22 magazine compatibility.
When pressed on whether regular 10/22 magazines would work, Auto Ordnance representatives indicated magazines need "a rail" to function properly, referring to the guide rail on their proprietary stick magazines. I suspect this is the case since it uses the same magazine release and insertion mechanism as classic Thompsons.

Hasn't Auto-Ordnance done this before? I thought that when they brought out the 1927a1 semi-auto Thompson (banned in Canada), they also sold a .22 rimfire version (also banned in Canada, of course).

Likely prohibited as a variant of the thompson, as the thompson is a named prohibited firearm. Cool though.

Kind of wish the 10/22 thompson kits were still around.

Dang, didn't think of that. Even if the internals are different I am sure it would be banned as a variant because it's a " lookalike variant"

They did. I toured their factory in NY years back (Numrich, TC, and AO were all on the same road up in the Catskill, great day trip). - dan

Back in the day I bought a Thompson kitted 10/22 from a fella here on cgn. Walnut furniture, a finned barrel (I believe from Dlask). Was sort of a mashup of models when I was done.

An aluminum kit that basically clamshelled over a 10/22 receiver with a bunch of screws holding it together.

Pretty cool plinker, solid rifle. I modded the sights a bit to try making them a bit more usable with a longer sight radius. I put a Cutts style comp on mine with a dovetail for a front sight and eliminated the forward-mounted sight pin. Can't remember who made the kit at the moment.

Yes, they did, back in the 70's I think. This one won't make it up here either.

It’s a shame we could never get the semi auto 45 acp tommy guns I always wanted one of those as they are more like the real thing

I remember SIR had the Auto Ordnance 22tommy gun for sale at one time. That was before the liberals brought out the gun registry. If I remember correct around 1988.
Yes, SIR!!! They sold all kinds of firearms, accessories and surplus, trapping and fur handling equipment, and ran a fur auction that rivaled HBC and OTA. Golden years. How far we have fallen. Morphed into Bass Pro, and has became more american than Trump.
