Kalashnikov's AK-47, 60th anniversary

According this New York Times article, the US bought AK-47's from Bulgaria, Rumania, Egypt and China for use by various friendly forces of Afghanistan and Iraq, among others :)
 
This is prob' to replenish the supply they gave to bin Ladens bunch back in the Soviet Afgan war. :rolleyes:

The USA is eager to violate trade, and patent laws, but quick to cry foul when China does the same to them. :rolleyes:
 
That is a very interesting point Calum, that the US is, knowingly, violating the Kalashnikov's AK-47 trademark and patents. It would be interesting if the Russian started to make and marked M-16 clones :)
 
There are no valid patents on the AK or the M16. Patents are only good for 25 years in the US. I don't know about Russia. Russia built those plants and supplied the technical details, hardly patent infringment.
 
the russian are now sounding like true capitalist, "wheres my share?"

wants a cut on a 60 year old design that they gave away for free or encourage other countries to make them during the cold war.

Military steel cases

During WW2, the germans invented the cheap, lackered steel case for their personal guns.

How comes that only the russians and their former communist allies have copies this german invention ?
