It looks like sales of the AK-47 are better than ever. (Sadly; None for us Canadian folks.)

Fack the AK.
Would sell my soul to be able to own a FN C1 :(
Jesus I love that rifle. I had a chance to shoot one legally again just recently. After you shoot one you really appreciate just how awesome they are.
The FAL is also a part of our national heritage and history. It's beyond ridiculous that we can't own a semi auto purpose built FN but we can own an M14 in a tactical chasis, any number of current black coloured, pistol gripped XCR/ACR/SL8 etc etc
Small things that drive me nuts about Canada.

Amen. The FAL is legendary - Also a part of Canadian military history.

If we vote wisely in the future, the FAL may one day see the sun again.

But I also wouldn't mind a Russian made AK ;)

Wish I could take one home with me, would be worth the vacation to Russia to get one. Sadly its ammunition much too dangerous compared to what I load in my SKS...

Not the same. They are just another unlicensed illegal copier.

Pretty sure the AK-47 patent has expired, if there ever was one... thus not "illegal copies".

Correction: there never was one until 1997, when Izhmash decided to protect their source of revenue. Still, once everyone else is already tooled up and producing the same design, it's kind of late to claim "patent rights", lol:

It wasn't until 1997 that the Izhmash factory in the Ural Mountains city of Izhevsk, which makes Kalashnikovs, secured a state patent for the weapon and began pressing foreign manufacturers to respect its copyright.
