KTSA will be hosting a 300M ISSF shoot. 12-13 April 2008. If you are a BR, TR or F-Class shooter, these shoots are plenty of fun. This is also a good place for you Remmy Vs. Savage types to "put up or shut up":p

If you would like to try a taste of competition "precision" shooting, this is exactly the type of match a new 'competitive' shooter should try.

If you are interested in knowing more about these types of matches, drop me a line... I am NOT organizing it, but will help you break some ice if you'd like to try it and are a bit intimidated.

See you there!

I have heard that the KTSA shooters have been actually going out and practicing; some of them, EVERY weekend. For shame!
I think I will bring both a Remington (P14) and a Savage (950T) and may even bring along a Winchester. This way I can be either liked or loathed by everyone. Regards, Bill.

It's more of a fun league than practice..... and I only say that because Fripp is handing me my ass-on-a-platter as you might well expect. :D

FO = F-Class Open (Prone, Any caliber except Magnums)
F-TR = F-Class (Prone, .223 up to 80grn or .308 up to 155grn....same as TR but from a Bipod or Rest)
BR = Benchrest
TR = Target Rifle (Prone, Slings and Irons)

I have a Savage LRPV that I bring out now and again....so yes, stock rifles are just as welcome as custom builds.

You can join the KTSA by dropping in at The Powder Keg, I believe prices for 2008 are:

Single: $80
Family $100

Hi WSMNUT!

Yes, by all means you can use factory rifles! a bi-pod or rest), scope and a rear bag and 100 rounds of ammo and you're set!! In fact, I would really love to see all of these 1/4-MOA claiming Savage owners to come out and put on a clinic!!!!:nest:

In all seriousness, if "competition" is something you have contemplated, these are exactly the type of shoots to try. If you have ever pondered "what gun, what calibre?" this is a great place to start! The folks that take this sort of thing seriously (and are the first to laugh at themselves) strive to do the most with the least... not many canons. There are lots of guys with white or even no hair and they are the friendliest, most welcoming buch of folks! If you're a new shooter, you'll be welcomed into the fold and given all the encouragement in the world.

I think I was the one that got CyAnIde(sp?) into this a year ago and he now shoots better than me!!

these shoots are just plain fun. I guarantee you will walk away with more information from one weekend than you will from a month or reading books - or this website :)

-hope to see you there!

Ian

Thanks, alot Ian and cyanide,I am not exactly a new shooter. But have always enjoyed shooting alot, would this be a good shoot for my 14 yr old daughter to attend? bought her a new savage 22 at the gun show last year and she put probably 300 rounds though it.where is the shoot being held, and do I have to join the club before entering the shoot?

Sorry my bad, kind of skipped over the 300m part of your initial post,so the daughter might get discouraged trying to shoot 300m with a 22 and open sghts in her first match.Maybe me and the son will shoot and she can observe,if thats okay.By the way I know Mr Fripp and probably a few other members.I'll definitely plan to be there.
