Kar 98 az on the EE

I think it was going for $355.
A great price. But I have money set aside for a special Gew98.
Was still hard to pass up though...
It did have some stuff carved into the stock, and apparently the lower wood had some wiggle to it??
Anyways. Congrats to the new owner. I was hoping at that price it would be snatched up in minutes before I broke down and bought it...

Double-dated Reichswehr rifle? More than I can say for my old relic, although she did make it to Czechoslovakia for a 1923 rebuild and then to Spain for another rebuild about 1940.
Likely it's just my ancient eyeball, but the stacking hook on the one on the EE looks rather more like the Polish model than the curved one on my rifle (and yours). What say?
These are lovely old rifles and they can be made to shoot very well. They were, by far, th handiest German rifle of the Great War, as well as (in my opinion) easier to handle than the later Standardmodell or 98k.
So nice to know that they are appreciated; for a long time they were regarded as of less "value" than a k, whatever "value" might mean.

Hard to tell from the EE photo - it's not a great picture.
Mine appears to be a WW2 vet bringback marked to a police unit, but probably drafted into Whermacht or Volkstuurm service in '44 or 45. It (obviously) remained in service after 1918 and came to Canada after 1945.

I didnt even see the Mauser...although I havent been bitten by that bug yet it would have been hard to pass up at that price.
