Just currious boys what exactly is forced match??
Looking at the Ellwodd Epps site they have a lot of K98's just not sure what this means. Appreciate the advice/wisdom!

HHB:confused:

When K98's were refurbed, parts that were not original, hence different serial numbers on them, were either scrubbed and stamped with a new serial number (Yugo reworks) or simply electopenciled with the matching serial number (Russian reworks) . Generally, they would use the reciever serial number to match all of the other parts to. So all parts are 'force matched' to the reciever serial number. A fancy way of saying refurbished K98.

I wish I could rub out the electro pencil marks on my 98k. But I'm not reblueing the gun. Too expensive, and it still has the original blueing on it, from what I can tell.

I don't think the Russians dipped mine.

Forced matched is a silly term for renumbered. Rearsenaled is another one. The thing wasn't arsenaled in the first place, so how could it be rearsenaled?

Guys, don't knock the RC or other reconditioned rifles. Most of them shoot very well and are otherwise correct. That they have been reconditioned and stored for 60 years is a testimoy in itself for the regard these rifles were held in.
All of the work done to these rifles is a normal fact of life for military firearms and is a genuine part of their history.
Enjoy these rifles at their reduced prices, which will rise quickly once the supply has dried up. bearhunter

Got mine from Wes at Epps. I love it. My Lee Enfield Jungle Carbine has the make model etc electro pencilled also. Common for time. Mine shoots great and is right at home on the trap line. If any big bush dogs get within 150 yards of that K98 their deer/moose killin' days are over.....

cheers Darryl
