Hi Nutters!

I have a BCD 4 Kar 98K in 8mm and it has no "Weimar eagle proof" or other nazi markings at all. I tried to search on google for answers but found nothing.

Can you guys help me to find out why?

Thx

Ah yes! Pics would be great! I'd like to see close ups of the left side of the reciever and barrel just ahead of the reciever. These are the usual areas where proofs were applied. Inspection/acceptance stamps such as waffenamt 749 should be on the receiver as well.

How about the rear of the bolt handle root? There should usually be a proof there as well.

1944 and later Kar98ks have very little, if any, proof markings. Presumably, this was done to keep production high as finishing and fitting standards were lowered. Quality overall was not comprimised which is quite impressive.

I had a 1944 bcd and she had very few markings compared to my 1940 J.P. Sauer & Suhn.

Ill post pictures tomorrow.

To add, the rifle is in very good condition including the barrel, only normal wear on the bolt. Except serials, it only have "Mod.98" on the left side of the receiver.

I don't think bcd made SS rifles. Usually the no final proof SS rule applies to BNZ.

While as early as 42, they started cutting out a lot of stamping, it is only acceptance stamps(waa) that were cut. The firing proofs on the barrel, receiver and bolt should there til the bitter end.

Pics are the only way to tell you more.

And a bcd would not have weimar proofs. Would be nazi proofs.

I do remember there being a WaA stamp on the top of the receiver, just above the "bcd / 4" marking. Same goes for the eagle proof mark on the left side of the receiver.
