Looking for some info value and rarity of a Kar98az sporter I picked up.
The sporter itself is nice but nothing too special aside from being in quite nice shape. The interesting thing is the mud cover that from everything I have researched apears to be the real deal. It is identical to this one,

in fit and finish. With the manufacture marks blown up on a computer and mine beside it I see zero difference in depth and shape. The inside where there isn't speckling shows remnants of bright shiny bluing which is how I am to understand they were finished.
The sporter is a 1911 Erfurt with quite good shape metal missmatched but proper bolt (flattened off underside with crosshatching) but otherwise all matching right down to the screws and buttplate which is unit marked. The stock is typical cut back but matching numbers. Another interesting thing to note is the Kar. Isn't a scripture type font it is more of the font of the Mod. Stamp on a kar98k but is deep very clean and shows no sign of rework. With a straight edge on the side of the receiver there is no dip at all indicating an old marking was removed?
Just looking for someone with more knowledge on these early kar98 than me to chime in. I will try to figure out posting pictures later
Thanks in advance!
