I'm still a few years away from having the time/money/space to get into reloading. In the meantime, I have a fair amount of buck-a-round brass from fired-once factory loads (30-30, .303) that I'd like to keep for future reloading.

What steps should I be taking NOW to clean and preserve this brass to ensure it's good to go when the time comes?

Thanks -
Gray.

Just keep in in Ziploc bags. As long as it's dry, nothing bad should happen to the brass.

Thanks Guys - I appreciate the reassurance that all I need to do is keep it dry for now. I'd seen some references to folks cleaning their brass immediately after use... wasn't sure if that was necessary, or if they were just being keeners ;)

Ive got some .38 spl brass that I got 6-7 years ago . Im just starting to use it now ...it was uncleaned, primers still in, sealed up tight in ziplock bags and its fine. Im in a hurry to reload it and not even tumbling it.

Loads fine, shoots fine !!

take it from an old guy here.........i told my self years ago .. that reloading is to complicated and i would neaver understand it...
so the dumb as i was i tossed the brass all the time... now thirtyish and a few years later..
im out buying brass to reload

"...what a Berdan primer looks like..." What a berdan primed case looks like. No .30-30 will be. Milsurp .303 might be. Look in the case. If there's two primer holes, pitch it. If not it's boxer. Put 'em all in separate card board boxes, coffee cans etc(the container doesn't matter) and find a place for them to live until you get your loading kit. Under the bed is a good spot if space is short.
