While shooting an ORA 3 Gun match at Milcun Marksmanship Complex, Keith showed me his new prototype from Ian Roberston.

Way cool. Too bad I did not have my digital camera with me but I'll do my best to describe this stock ! :) I'm trying to recall all the features that Keith and Linda wanted Ian to incorporate......

* Skinny profile for carrying, tac movement/stalking/deploying
* Adjustable rubber buttpad with ONE Allen key
* Height adjustable cheekpiece with ONE Allen key also
* HS Precision floorplate, magazine assembly (5 or 10 rounders mags by HS)
* Typical Ian Roberston fiberglass layups and bombproof quality throughout
* Currently set up for Rem M700 platforms (short action was all I saw)

Now I realize that I'm starting up a discussion without any pictures or specs so please be kind ! Maybe Ian Roberstons will have it up on his website; http://www.robertsoncomposites.com/htmlfiles1024/RobertsonComposites1024.html

I've just emailed Ian Roberston and Keith Cunningham in hopes of obtaining some pictures.

Stay tuned......

Stock Fun

Ian Robertson just sent me 2 pics of the Milcun Tactical stock. I need someone to host them for me/us. Any takers ?

HeadDamage; Yup, the stock is a drop in for the M700 and inletted for your bottom PSS metal and / or the HS Precision magazine assy.

Linda Miller told me yesterday that she will be emailing me a price list and all the details in a few days. I'll post it here.

Now she shared their observations during the design process. Most of you know at www.Milcun.com Keith and Linda offer Sniper Rifle crses for civilians, military and LEO shooters. Throughout the LEO crses many LEO's bring their dept issued bangsticks and of course A5's, PSS's and other higher budget platforms show up. Linda and Keith offered their Milcun / Robertson stock for comparison and many, many LEO's appreciated the Milcun/Robertson stock over the A5. I'm going to give one a try sometime this summer either at Milcun or at NSCC / CFSAC in Connaught.

I wish I could provide more information, but we are working on it. One this is for sure, we have very talented precision rifle builders north of the border and I want to keep supporting them. In light of the US Export Rules and ITAR and other paperwork, I want to spotlight our local talent who support us. :D

Keeping in touch,

Barney

Here you go...

Keith is an excellent shooter, and soldier/officer. Too bad the Army has not followed some of his advice wrt marksmanship training.

Barney - any details on the forend construction? Is the barrel channel part of the stock shell as opposed to open foam/fibre construction? Double box - web stiffener?

103159: You would have to contact Ian Robertson directly. Apparently he's in the process of completing the first production run for Keith.

Kevin: I'm certain that a Picatinny rail is not out of the question if you contact Ian. Prices ? Linda just got back to me. Looks like this stock is so new in design and manufacturing run that final costs are just being tallied. I have a more recent pic from Linda. She sent me this one around lunchtime today. Kevin, can I email it to you for posting ?

This new picture will show the buttplate hardware as well as the cheek rest and single allen key tensioning. I'm in contact with Ian Robertson and he along with Keith designed this stock after closer examination of an McM A5 stock which Ian owns.

Cheers,
Barney

What calibre is the rifle in. 308? 300 Win Mag or some of the newer 6.5 calibers? 6.5-283, 6.5-08 or the 6.5-55 Swede.

C Broad Arrow:

This thread is about the new tactical stock that Milcun and Robertson Composites are putting together. It will accomodate any Remington M700 Short Action rifle with varmint or target rifle barrel contour.

If you are interested in the Tactical Rifle that Keith Cunningham builds for discerning precision shooters, then have a look here: www.milcun.com

Hope this helps,
Barney

Not knowing how long you have had this set up i am not sure you if you will be able to answer some of these questions.
How does it shoot, and how did it ride the bag?
have you tried it using the sock method and without any rear bag.
I like the fact that the bolt clears the check piece. saying that do you have enough contact with the cheek piece to get a good cheek weld.

Milcun/Roberston Stock

Folks:

I just rec'd an email from Linda. These stocks are currently going through a production run at Robertson's Composites in Ottawa right now. Linda says that they have not completed all the final costing, but they expect that the final price will be competitive with McM's A5 and the HS Tac Stocks. This stock will be sold with the butt plate and the cheek piece(s) all ready to go. You just have to screw on your Remington M700 bottom metal.

The HS Precision magazine kit for most of you who know, is quite expensive. Head over to the HS Precision website and discover that the 10 round magazines retail for over $ 225 USD

That's enough to convince anyone to stick with the factory bottom metal.

Someone was asking about the construction of the forestock... Sorry, I can't answer that one. All I can recall about handling that stock this fall was, this stock was a bombproof stock and not a cheesy tupperware stock like my Rem M700 ADL .223. or my Bell & Carlson foam jobbie on my old Model 70 many more years ago... :p

Now about how the stock rides the bags, and how it performs.... well, if Keith and Linda are competing with it... you can rest assured that it's a winner. For most of you who don't know, Keith and Linda regularly place Top Sniper Pair at NSCC/CFSAC since 2001. And if they are not top in the Aggregate, they will be second Sniper Pair, like this year: www.dcra.ca Klik on the Results button.

Humbly yours,
Barney

got any pictures of the other side. sorry i am a lefty and the stock looks like it is ambidextrous.
Did Ian have imput from the Canandian army or Keith, Linda

Trevor60:

You are in great fortune since Keith is a lefty like yourself. You can guarantee that he would be looking out for your interests. :)

Ian, glad to have you in this discussion ! Thanks for joining us.

Bring on the questions !!
