They're not a "quality firearm" but they certainly are inexpensive. Then again... what's that old saying:
"The bitterness of poor quality remains long after the sweetness of a low price has faded."
It's one thing to get a good "deal" on a quality product... it's another to buy a cheap product thinking it's a good deal. The two are not usually the same thing.

A sub2000 can be had for $259.00 brand new in the states.
Obviously an importer needs some mark-up but more than double retail? I wouldn't call it cheap.
Never handled the SU-16 rifles but the sub2000 looked pretty good quality. It was also recommended by gun tests magazine, which is about the only non-biased evaluator publishing these days.
