Kel-tec rdb for $899usd in America-land. I wonder if kel-tec has adjusted its prices or if this is a special? Even then, it suggests softening of prices down South.

As far as I know, still not approved in Canada, and since there is a full auto version it may be a while / who knows. But if this a pricing change, it may affect other manufacturers.

It would be nice if lefties had a bull-pup option other than Tavor. I'd be all over K&M, but alas.

( I read this over on bullpup forums, while waiting a 2nd day for Canpar... Hope I don't run out of smokes).

What's wrong with a Tavor if you want a lefty friendly bullpup? It used to be the price for a lot of people but you can get a nice used one for under $2000 on the EE these days and at that price even I've been considering trying one again. The four I shot prior to purchasing my own really didn't get me too excited and I sold it after a couple months but for $1000 less than they used to cost they are a lot more appealing these days.
Considering that they are probably 4x the rifle a K&M or RDB are the price doesn't seem that bad.
If you really want a quality bullpup then wait for the Desert Tech MDR but you better be ready for a $4000 hit to the credit card if they get a non restricted FRT once they start making the 18.5 inch barreled ones.

I've seen a few reviews that spoke highly of the RDB, but the RDB-S is the one I'm excited about. Perfect pack around gun, light, compact, no pistol grip, what's not to like. I've yet to see anyone come out and say the RDB is garbage apart from the normal kel-tec
hate that people spout off all the time. Kel-tec doesn't seem to be getting worse, if anything I'd say they keep getting better. Besides if they come in at 900 usd that will put some pressure on all the manufacturers to keep competitive. I'm looking at you Desert Tech! 4k$? They had better be good for that money.

Yes. Exactly. They should need to justify $4,000. Sadly that isn't the case in Canada. IWI is able to charge 35% above the US exchange rate for Tar-21, because there is no real bullpup competition here.

The RDB is competition to the Tavor, which is competition for Desert Tech. So maybe Desert Tech will have to justify their $4,000 after all (south of the border at least).

I talked to Vault distribution more than a few months ago. I was calling with some questions about my sub2k and we got on the topic of the RDB.

I was told the frt could be out as early as end of August. ... then the conversation turned to the absurdity of the RCMP lab. So maybe next August?

I've owned 3 Kel-Tec products, Sub2000, RFB, and KSG and all worked well. I also owned a Desert Tech SRS in 338 Lapua and there really is no comparison, DT is amazing and if the MDR is anything like the SRS then the $4000 will be totally worth it.
If the RDB comes in under $2000 Canadian and is non restricted I'll probably give one a try though. The biggest reason I want the MDR is the caliber conversions and Lothar Walther barrels.
The other options may be good but if I can buy a bullpup that's as accurate as my ACR and it can be converted from 223 to 300BLK to 308win then the MDR wins even if it does cost more.

My experiences with kel-tec is similar. Good for what they are, and I would prefer a better shooting rifle than the Tar-21 at a comparable price, than a comparable shooting rifle (RDB) for a better price.

Until now I think Canadians have been getting hosed. So, August has been a big month. K&M coming to Canada and at good price too, and RDB discounting in the USA.

$2700 IWI Tavor Tar-21
$600 trigger pack
$200 trigger bow
------
$3,500 1.5 moa - convertable left/right handed

$2,200 K&M 17S-C small run, sub-moa if as good as it's 308 brother - right-handed only

$1,150 on sale kel-tec RDB - ambidextrous - USA only

$740 on sale Norinco T97 - competes with nothing, and in my opinion looses. - right-handed only

I agree. The predicted Kel-Tec Canadian markup really emphasizes the importance of independents moving firearms across borders. Meanwhile...

If the K&M 17S-C is a good as many say, then IRunGuns already has helped out by offering it at $2,200. Sadly boring handed only, but that rifle at that price could drive the whole Canadian bullpup market.
