Hey fellow GNers,

I'm looking to get some first hand impressions from RFB owners, is it worth the money?

I'm planning on downsizing my firearms collection, and I'm looking for a kind of all around rifle I can use for deer hunting here in northern Ontario (thick brush everywhere) as well as a SHTF/range gun.

What kind of accuracy can I expect from factory ammo, as I don't have a reloading set up.

Ergonomics?? Issues? Any input would be appreciated

I have one, bought it for the exact same reasons as you, mainly cause its man size caliber and won't smack me in the back of the head walking through the bush. Mag changes take a little getting use to as in all bullpups but overall I really enjoy mine. Accuracy with factory American Eagle FMJ gives me 1.5" groups at 100 yards on average. Some complain about gas system adjustment but once you understand how it works then its pretty simple.

I've hunted mine for three seasons and love the size when working through the bush and over obstacles. It's so easy to maneuver due to it's compact size. Function is 100% with mine. Gas system on mine actually seals too well, and I have it set to B+30 for winchester 168 grain Silvertip ammo. I have a 1-4x optic on mine, but with the mount I find it a little to front heavy. I'm going to swap it out for an Eotech, and throw a FTS mounted magnifier on if I need to get closer.

The fellas I hunt with always raise an eyebrow when they see the "weird " stuff I bring to camp for deer season, but once they shoulder the bullpup platform, they really like it. The only thing that they don't like is the price.

Great. I was also wondering about the weight for optics. Ideally I'd like to put an Acog on but I feel like that would be very front heavy. So perhaps an aimpoint instead

I have one and love it,it is my go to hunting rifle, here most shots on deer are under a 10 yards so I have a trijicon on it and it works just fine for me.

My setup with the ARMS mount and optic is a few ounces shy of two pounds. Add to that the need to keep it pretty forward on the gun, and the already heavy barrel profile, it starts to lose the advantage of a rear weight bias. I think with the Eotech I can mount it further Rearward and it only weighs in at 9 ounces. Should balance much better. The feel of the gun without optics is very nice - that's what i'm trying to revive with the different selection.

I am sure though that you will get a bunch of guys here telling you that are usless piece of junk because they read it somewhere on the internet.

Ya I was expecting that, but it seems as though people who actually OWN one have different opinions, so that's good to know

I am 4 deer deep with mine and il never look back! FOR ME its the perfect deer/bush gun. You will soon have the guys running here to say it's not a .5 moe rifle and its this and that... I am tired of wasting my time debating them.

I love mine and its perfect for ME!

I have the hunter model. No issues with it at all. I like it and will enjoy hunting with it this winter. As mentioned earlier (and common to all bullpups ) is getting good with doing the mag changes. Certainly what you' re hunting doesn't shoot back LOL so a few extra seconds on a mag change is no biggie.

My recommendation is to become familiar with the instructions on how to properly set up the gas system. Read it over a few times and understand it. It will remove a lot of the initial frustration owners have with regards to these rifles on the first range visit.

I enjoy mine and it has been reliable. Whether or not YOU think it's worth the money is entirely YOUR decision to make.

Mine's one of the ones with the original gas system. I haven't hunted with it, but it's 'minute of clay pigeon' at 200 yards, with surplus ammo, and I've only ever had one malfunction with it.

The trigger is amazing. I don't think I will ever particularly like the mag release or bolt release, but despite that, overall, I've been pretty happy with the gun. It's not a 'tactical' rifle - it's really just a compact, intermediate-range semi-auto hunting rifle. It wouldn't be my first choice as a 'shtf' gun, or as a hunting rifle, but it's perfectly acceptable for either purpose.

I've hunted past two seasons with it. It is perfect truck/bush gun, it is so compact. It is heavy but balances well, trigger is good. Personally I could not get it to shoot with factory ammo, but with my reloads every single 3 shoot group is an inch which is good enough for deer for me. The factory ammo issue may be my gun as it likes overall length to be shorter than 2.8 inch and all factory I tried was that long I never really searched as I was going to reload.

Original question was it worth it, yes. I will not sell this one.

What is the hunter model? thanks

RFB is a MOA gun with good quality factory ammo. If you are going to shoot 5 or 10 round groups you will see 1.5moa or more, groups start to open up after 3 rounds.

For a NR 308, nothing can currently compete with the overall length and accuracy that I have seen.

Correct. Hunter has 24" barrel. I am going to chrony it and see if there is any real advantage in velocity or accuracy at distance when it warms up as a buddy of mine has the short barrel model. If no real difference I will have it cut & threaded for a FH as well.
