So, I wasn't sure where exactly to ask this, but then realized "Hey, why not see what the other guys think?" I saw this beauty at Shot Show and got pretty pumped... Then remembered what side of the border we live on... Still pumped, but, you know, could be a while. Kel-Tec is planning to have their brand new RDB out Q4 of 2015, but does anybody know if we will be seeing them here at all at some point? (Just as an aside: Please no debating the RCMP and/or their firearms lab, I get that FRTs take a while, write you politicians etc etc)

MAC did a review of a pre-production product... A few details are different from what was shown at Shot Show. And the final production version is going to have a couple differences still.

Interesting gun. MAC has no love for Kel-Tec has really ragged on a couple of their guns. Mind, that was back when he had a day job and wasn't relying on his YouTube channel and Copper Customs (his retail gun store) for his income.

I would tend to agree.

And it's a shame. Because they really do have some interesting and innovative designs. But the execution... Therein lay the problem.

I've said this before, but I think it bears repeating: George Kellgren should stick to designing/inventing guns and then license those designs to someone that could flesh them out properly.
 
Can't wait for RDB to come out, when it does my Tavor will be going for sale. Most people that say that Kel-tec is sh!t never owned one.. yes I would agree that Su-16 and Sub2k GEN 1 were questionable quality, but everything else seams to be good. I owned RFB, KSG, Sub2k Gen1 and gen2, su-16, plr 22. And I'm a big fan.
 
I never had a problem with my RFB or my KSG. They were both well made reliable firearms. My Sub2000 was also reliable but it did feel cheap. I have sold off all my Kel-Tec products but it was not because I had problems with them or didn't like them, I just wasn't using them enough to justify keeping them when I needed cash for something else I wanted to buy.
Everything I've read and all the reviews I've seen for the RDB from the guys south of the border have been very positive.
Best thing to do would be to contact Vault distribution (the Canadian importer for Kel-Tec) and ask them.
 
The reports about the RDB certainly appear to be largely positive. Its a promising design - I hope it works.
 
I handled the RDB at SHOT also and spoke extensively with a rep who is also on the Keltec shooting team. It is a slick looking gun. Takedown is simple. The build quality and feel of the gun is very different from the SU and SUBs and even the RFB. Much better feeling.
However, to the poster who already owns a Tavor, I would not trade a Tavor for this gun. The mag release is all metal and a bar, not a lever like the Tavor ( unless they re-work it again). If you do the heel bump mag change, you will be sore in no time! Even the shooting team guys wrap material around the bar on their personal guns. My guess is the retail price of these here will be just below a XCR so the Tavor is still a more expensive gun. It is also proven.
The RDB as a toy, yes! Cool enough but not in the league of the Tavor IMO.

I hope K-T was wise enough to have sent a unit to our friend at the lab to start the classification process, if not we might not see it at all I fear. But I am not shure they even could have dent one since it seems like there still changing the design ie. short stroke to long stroke piston, reciprocating to non and forearm lenght...
