Like the title says, i would like to know how accurate, if at all, these .223 rifles could be at 200 ish yards.

I was thinking of getting one, throwing one of those pistol grip kit deals on it and carrying it in the farm truck to shoot at coyotes.

I have a remington 700 22-250 that is a really nice rifle, but heavy as hell, and I was just looking for something semi auto, in the tacticool type, that is reasonably affordable.

I came across these rifles, I googled the hell out of them, and it seems like no one really talks about the accuracy past 100 yards. I have a .22 ruger I can reach out and touch stuff at 100 (although not kill coyotes haha) and am looking for a little longer range, tacticool type plinker that could take down yotes.

School me please! (or tell me Im full of it, and what im looking for doesnt exist unless i wanna blow a few grand!)

Thanks guys and gals.

I've got one that shoots fairly well, though I haven't put glass on it and measured my group.

my brother purchased one and scoped it. he gets sub moa with quality ammo. there's a reasonable chance you will also be able to achieve that.

Id spend a little bit extra and get a m4 stock vz58 223 and get a ar mag adaptor I can reach 200 with some decent glass but thats just my opinion I wouldn't waste my hard earned money on a kel tec

VZ in 223 doesn't have the best rep either.

I wouldn't have an issue with the SU-16, from what I've heard the accuracy is as good as any of the other options other than an AR with a match barrel or a bolt gun.

I have a SU-16F and mounted a bushnell 3-9x40 legend, not pleased with the grouping on the factory loads I've tried, but I'm still hopeful and hangin' in. My guess is the 55-62 grain bullet is best suited but YMMV. It is a fun rifle to take to the range, no recoil and light. Just remember that the barrel is very thin and therefore repeated shots taken with speed will heat it up and not help with grouping. There is a SU-16 forum you might want to check out too.

Have a t97 and vz58 .223 think if I had to choose between them id keep the vz58 way better trigger I think they have resolved issues from earlier model I got 500 down the pipe all with the ar adaptor and have had no issues what so ever (knock on wood) and I think you could get a csa vz58 223 ar stock with ar mag adaptor with some ar mags and still be cheaper then a kel tex su16 fx and the csa is not that much heavier then the kel tec and its a much more of a solid rifle just look at all the kel tec that are splitting frames and with a vz the warranty work can be done in this country but this is only my opinion do what you want with it

I was getting, maybe 4"-5" groups at 100yrds. I wouldn't hunt with one, they're a cheap plinker.
A savage axis makes a better coyote rifle at 1/3 the price.

Firing a group that all 5shots land inside a 2" circle, with tula steel case ammo from a savage axis, is much more enjoyable than getting what looks like a shotgun pattern with the su16.

I had the same intent, I wanted a light semi for yote hunting, with a 3x9 scope at 100 I was getting at best 3 1/2' 5 round groups, most were in the 4-5" groups. It wasn't accurate enough at all for 200m shots.

With a decent cheap optic mounted (Vortex 6-18x44) I found mine to shoot 1.75" at 100m and just below 4" groups at 225m (or 246 yards) with Hornady steel match 55gr HP @ 3050 fps and similar accuracy with 50gr V-Max over IMR3031 or IMR4895 handloads. 60gr V-max were so terribad I never tried them past 100m. As someone else pointed out the barrel is light and it heats up fast so your groups will open up if you don't let the barrel cool down. The rifle is chambered in .556 and it ate everything I fed it with no glitches once I tossed the plastic stock mags. I found the rifle's accuracy with surplus ammo varied quite a bit from brand to brand with MFS steel case being the utter worst. The rifle is fun to shoot, extremely light, folds, easy to disassemble and takes the inexpensive LAR-15 10rnd mags; I frequently kick myself for selling mine. The only negative I had with mine is I hated the plastic mags that came with the rifle, but as I said, the LAR-15 mags are a fantastic option.
