I have a keltec su16 an am wanting to put a flAshhider or muzzle break on it to help with barrel rise when shooting. My question is... What would be a good option? I'm told it takes standard AR ones. Best choice? Also it isn't a threaded end to the barrel. Do I need I go to a gunsmith for this? Will I need to remove the front sight from the barrel? Anyone done this? Any ideas on cost? Any insight would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Tagged for interest, as I plan on picking up a SU16 soon.

The muzzle diameter needs to be turned down a small amount before it can be threaded 1/2"x28. Dlask has done it for a couple members and I think I remember seeing a price of $80 on their website but don't quote me on that. Im guessing the front sight base would work fine as a shoulder to tighten up against with a crush washer but I remember seeing a sleeve Dlask spun up to replace the FSB on someone's rifle as well. After that pick your poison and screw it on.

I have one for sale. Please contact Dlask. Great guy. Great work. You don't lose your front sight. However I took mine off. I've seen guys put a metal tube over the barrel so it stays roughly he same size along the barrel.
I also have a Hera Arms linear comp for sale that I used on the SU16. It's simply awrsome!!!
No fireballs when shooting Norinco. Seems less loud also.
My threading is the standard 1/2x 28

Ezekietz. You're in BC so contact Dlask and they'll get you set up right. They do great work and great turn around. As mentioned, they've threaded a few SU-16 from this board.

good to know. i have since contacted dlask and shall be getting my barrel threaded by them. pretty excited. a nice flash hider combined with my red dot lucid hd7 w/ 2x magnifier that i got on the way should gimme everything i want outta this lil rifle. i know its no $4000 ar15 w/ expensive optic setup BUT i can take it in the bush. super happy. will post pics once its all set up :)

The SU-16 is a fun and light weight rifle that can be tacticooled and taken out in the woods for a fun time. I've had mine out many times and it never fails to hit the target.

Willisworms is machining muzzle adapters for cheap that lock on with a set screw. No smithing required. A lot of people were flaming his efforts so I'm not sure how keen he is to make more but I would send him a PM. There is a thread in here somewhere.
