Kel-Tek Sub 2000 gen 2 barrel protector cap

Hi,

Did anyone managed to remove the thread protector cap from the barrel on Sub 2000 gen 2? It seems to be so tight that I'm afraid to damage the gun by trying to remove it.

Any feedback is appreciated.

The thread protector on mine is the same...very tight. I Didn't want to force it either, was thinking of putting some kind of muzzle device on it but decided against it. Also interested in others experience with this!

That's exactly the problem!

Mine came off ok, used a leather belt and a vise grip trick.
Sight screws off too.

Update:

Feedback that I received from manufacturer: "You can try using heat and a 5/8" wrench to break it loose in case some Loctite from the front sight got under it."

I never used "loctite" before, how do you deal with it if it was used?

I've used a heat gun on its highest setting and propane bottle torch against red loctite.
