Anyone shooting a Kemen? Anyone know of anyone shooting a Kemen? I went through their factory in Spain 6 years ago and gave them serious consideration when I was looking at a high end clays gun. I went in a different direction however.

I know of one person who owns one but he prefers his Krieghoff and rarely shoots his Kemen. Any others in Canada? If so how are they holding up?

Well I never even heard of the make but after a little web surfing there seems to be quite a few in the USA. For sure a high end clays gun so I'll be sticking with my Brownings and Berettas.

Kemen is the old Sarriugarte Bros. firm (which died with Diarm) resurrected. Pretty much a Perazzi clone, except for the trigger group, which is their own patent. Fine guns, but they are getting roasted in the U.S. because of the lack of parts, and very slow service. I had a chance to examine one last year. Unless you crave something different, the P gun is still the way to go in this arena.

I understand that Kemen now makes game guns, some of which are priced higher than Pedro Arrizabalaga. I have never seen one of these guns, but it would have to be a knockout to be worth more than the Arrizabalaga.

When I was at Kemen in '99 they hadn't started making their game gun. The guy in charge of the place, a Sarriguate, was a bit odd. He was more interested in bragging about the various eastern potentates he was making guns for than showing me guns I might buy. In hindsight I'm quite glad I didn't buy one of their guns given the rarity of them in Canada and the U.S. problems. Unlike Perazzi, say the name Kemen and people don't know what you're talking about

Their game gun as I understand it is a single drop out trigger sxs which tips the scales at 7-1/2lbs in 12 gauge. That's as much as I would need to know to move elsewhere. It is not in the same league Pedro Arrizabalaga.

The Basque country of Spain is one of the largely undiscovered jewels of Europe. Great people, outstanding food and as long as you can tolerate the occasional car bombing by Basque separatists it's a great place to visit.

Satisfied Canadian Kemen Customer.

Well I have been shooting A Kemen for 5 years. I put it trough about 100 flats a year (25,000 shells). I had the bottom firing pin brake every 2 years, the bottom leaf spring broke after 4 years along with the bottom hammer. You will have guessed that I always shoot my bottom barrel first. These parts are on a 10 year warrenty and only cost me the overnight shipping. I Never had any problem. A second trigger group is available should you want to have an insurance policy for leaf spring and hammers. I am a very satisfied Canadian Kemen customer.

Very simple for the parts that I talked about. I phoned the US asked for them and the next day they are in my hands in a small brown envellope. These parts are very small and never posed any problem crossing the border so far.

Glad your happy with your gun. Although to be honest if I'd had a couple of broken firing pins, a broken bottom leaf spring and and broken hammer on my Perazzi I'd be underwhelmed to say the least.

I bought my P-gun in 2002 and probably have 60 thousand rounds through it at this point and the only problem was a cracked bottom leaf spring a couple of weeks ago. Perazzi supplies replacement leaf springs and firing pins with their guns and they are very easy to change out. I know at least ten Perazzi owners and no one has broken either a hammer or firing pin. About half have replaced trigger springs.

For some reason both my lower firing pin broke after about 55,000 shells. My lower leafspring and hammer both broke a month apart after 120,000 shells. I taught that this was about right for normal ware and tare. I should maybe add that It never saw a gunsmith for anything. The only maintenance I ever do is light coat of oil after it rains. I have the same kit of spare parts as you get with a perazzi. Some of these parts are sometimes replaced on regular annual tune-up by gunsmiths. I only have one trigger group as oppose to some who have 2 to spread the ware and tare.
