Hey everyone, I have a friend who own's a Kerr handgun from the 1860's or so. Has been in his family all this time. Looks to be in good condition. Just wondering what something like that would go for. Any collectors out there?

Good article on these critters in Wikipedia, of all places.

11,000 built.

7 went to New Zealand for official use.

USA bought 1600 @ $18 per unit.

CSA bought serial numbers 3000 through 10000.

Be VERY interesting to know the history on such a beast!

As to "value".... who really CARES? Likely somebody would cough a couple grand for one in good shape.

It's WONDERFUL!

A response! Thank you! Yeh, this gun was a nice pistol. It was his great great great grandfathers or something. I would like to shoot it! It's percussion cap .44 . Anyone know how to load these suckers?

...buy or make some balls, FFF Goex powder (start light on the grains), caps and away you go. Guys and Gals over in the black powder thread can help with the grain load...probably 20-30 grains is full house?
