Kibler Colonial 54 flint

This winter I assembled a 54 Kibler Colonial with extra fancy Maple. I used aquafortis on the stock, plumb brown on the barrel, nitre blued the screws and casehardened the lock. I really like the way this rifle holds. A friend is interested in buying it but I don’t think I will be upset if he doesn’t it is a very nice rifle all around.

Nice. Shows why nitric acid is the only way to stain curly maple. Brings out the curl better than any others and, while It may darken slightly over time, if it does it won’t be much and will look just a good 200 years from now.
