I don't have any kids that hunt but I do have a hunting story.

When I was thirteen I took my slingshot into the woods and I climbed a tree. After waiting a long time not totally sure since I didn't have a watch I saw a deer. I then took my slingshot and pretending that it was a bow I took a shot at the deer.

The deer then did the WTF?? look around and then ran off.

Keep in mind that at this point I was raised thinking that hunters were bad people and if I didn't wear orange in the woods they would shoot me. (Thank you very much sister it's nice to know you're a ##### still.)

It taught me three things.

1.) It was fun
2.) I didn't get shot.
3.) I am so going to be hunting when I can.

Now I have a cousin that I know would love to go hunting I can see it in his eyes when he was holding a dollar store potato pistol. I just have to get my course and convince my aunt to let me take him.

Once I know what I am doing that is.

my daughter started shooting gophers with my bl22 when she was 11, then moved onto bigger stuff. I posted this a couple years ago.http://www.canadiangunnutz.com/forum/showthread.php?t=290738

I took my 5 year old out when I was back home last summer...he caught his first fish and rode a quad for the first time. He is a bit small and can't quite hold his .22 right yet and had to throw the cod back....

The look on his face when he got that little fish on and when the pic was taken....looks as happy as the other kids on here. Keep them going hunting, fishing camping etc...they will take their own kids someday.

Always a great feeling to hunt with my boys, 6 and 9 last fall, mule hunting they both had a great time - especially when I filled my tag. Right there to help gut.

This year I also started them oth on the Ruger 10/22 and they did very well all things considered.

My 9 year old caught his first jack on Dec 27th as well. His comment - hey dad guess whtas for supper!

LOL thats great, Im 18 and one of my friend was trying to convince me that money spent on video games is much more usefull than the money I spent on guns (licensing). I really didnt know what to say back, I just looked at him and laughed as hard as I could. His main argument was that there is a reset button on the exbox, so if I accidently shot myself in the game I could reset. :p

My boy turns 12 in April and is dying to get his hunters safety course and minors firearms license. I dont take him out deer or bear hunting just because its hard to keep him involved, and therefore interested...lol.

He is, however, always in the duck blind with me, and loves going bunny and grouse hunting. I have spent the last 2 years trying to pick him up a few guns so he is ready to go come springtime. He now has: A .22, a .410, and a crossbow.

Xmas morning, he asked me what will be open when he gets his license. I told him coyotes will be open....So now he wants a yote rifle using his own money. All his friends are out buying video games, my boy is buying a rifle...lol I love it, it drives his mom crazy.
