There’s been some chatter in here lately of cross-over platforms, so thought this might be of some interest to those that have or are considering this type of chassis style hunting platform

Kifaru Intl has released their Precision Hunter Platform by Viking Armament

“ The Kifaru Edition Apex TI rifle was designed with the back pack hunter in mind. Weighing in at about 6 lbs without optics, and the addition of a folding xlr element 4.0 MG chassis, this setup is built to be both light weight and extremely packable. The rifle guarantees sub ½ moa accuracy, features some of the best components on the market, and includes a Kifaru Rhino engraving on the chassis. Offered in several caliber options, barrel lengths, and cerakote patterns, the Kifaru Apex TI can be fine-tuned to be the last rifle you’ll ever need.

– Lone Peak Razor TI action: Short, Medium, or Long.
– 20 MOA Rail and 2″ Pic Rail
– XLR Element 4.0 chassis, Carbon buttstock components, carbon grip, and folder.
– Bartlein Carbon Fiber Barrel: 16.5″ – 26″
– Trigger tech Special trigger Flat Bar Black: 1-3.5lbs
– MB&M 2-5 Port Muzzle Brake 5/8×24 thread
– Comes with one of the following Cerakote options. Each will be engraved with Kifaru Rhino logos. Custom Cerakote will be an additional charge.

I've never played around with a chassis rifle before so it doesn't make a lot of sense to me right off. I guess being able to fold the rifle in half and carry it in a pack would be nice, but given that Kifaru makes a very slick rifle carrier that attaches to your pack, I'm not sure why I would want to pack my rifle into the interior of the pack, taking room away from what I'm packing for camp.

I also don't think that I would be particularly interested in a 1-3.5# trigger on a hunting rifle in Canada. Cold hands and light triggers don't play together very well.

A +20 MOA rail on a hunting rifle? Just how far do you expect to shoot? Most modern scopes have plenty of internal adjustment to reach out as far as you could want to shoot without a tapered base. That, to me, screams that the rifle is really being built around small cased cartridges and extensive dialing. Basically a PRS rifle that is being tarted up and touting as a hunting rifle.

Now that I've said all that, if you took that rifle without a brake, gave me a crisp 4-5# trigger, and dropped it into a Wildcat stock it would be a lot more interesting to me. But I can't blame Aron for getting in on the current environment of 6.5 CM and PRS popularity. It makes sense in this climate.
 
I’m not so sure it was Aaron’s doing but more his right-hand man Frank that had the major input on this. Aaron is predominately an Archery guy and Traditional one at that.

Your points are inline with my train of thoughts on chassis setups. I’m not thoroughly convinced on them just yet, but recognize they appeal to the newer gen of shooters. With their rise in popularity and the recent surge of LR PRS or Hunting it certainly is wise for Kifaru to join forces and offer a collaborative piece. I’m sure those who routinely drink the ”Kifaru Kool-aid” in the US will be all over this and they’ll sell decently for them

In the end, $5k US converted would and could build a serious Custom set-up in whatever Cal and Stock setup in your flavour of choice with $$ left to spare..

You're probably right, but Aron was just using a rifle in Texas a week or two ago. But you're right, Young Peralta is much more a rifle hunter than Aron.

I still remember the old Kifaru Rambling Rifle. Always thought that goofy little rifle was cool as hell.

I have a couple g invested in kifaru gear and for the most part I like it.

The rifles kind of funny though. They didn’t make a part on it and mark it up a few thousand for their little cerakote logo.

Stick to what your good at which is backpacks tipis and Knick knacks

Agreed, Kifaru is known for their Pack and Shelters. Stick with that

I'm suprised that given their customer base is predominately Mule Deer and Elk guys, at the lack of more commonly used cartridges on the options list. They now become a "custom caliber" option. Then again, Inguess Kifaru are basically at the mercy of the manufacturer on this one.

Had a friend with one of the Rambling Rifles weird looking, but easy to carry and use, and it shot well. They make some interesting kit, for sure. - dan
