(Mods I don't know if this is the right forum for this, so feel free to move it.)

I'm just wondering if you guys know what kind of material the Kifaru Tipi tents are made of? I've been reading the occasional post about how "it is suicide to put a wood stove in a nylon tent", so I'm just curious of the Kifaru is a nylon-type material, or what the deal is? And if it is nylon, why the hell don't people put in a little wood stove in their 4 season tents?

Anyways I was looking at one of these as a lightweight shelter for backpack hunting, but at THAT price I'd rather try and make something else work. Cheers.

I'm pretty sure that the Kifaru tents are a nylon parachute material. They're supposed to be super-light, but you pay a premium for them, especially given that their tipis don't have floors in them.

Yes, I've heard that a few times. But me being me, I'd probably forget such a thing, so thank you.

I'm thinking that a Shangri-La 3 tent combinded with a folgers coffee-can stove might be just the ticket for a poor-man's Kifaru.
