I got to thinking about that expression and wondering how one would go about "killing two birds with one stone."
I reckon one could get a powerful sling-shot and go flinging stones at flocks of (legal) birds hoping to get lucky and nail two at once.
Or you could sit up in a tree with a big rock and a pile of bird feed down below and wait for a chance to drop the rock on a couple of english sparrows.
Then I thought what might be the easiest way. Get a big flat rock and prop it up with a stick with a string attached and put some food under it. Wait out of sight and pull the string when two birds are under it. (or set up a figure 4 dead fall and go have a coffee and wait for the trap to work)
Now if you placed a small stone between your finger and the trigger of a shot gun, when you pulled on the stone it would make the gun go off and kill any birds that the gun was pointed at.
