Ok guys. Here a chance to weigh in on a classic debate.
Which 1911 would you choose and why. I'm down to these two guns and would love to hear some input. Pros and cons.
A Kimber 1911 custom covert II with the laser grips.
Or the Sig 1911 Tac Pac with nitron rail.

Price is not the issue. Rather reliability and life of the weapon.

Fire away..... Pun intended ; )

Cheers T.

In the little experience I've had with both of those, it's so close, but I'd lean towards the Sig.

Looking forward to other people's input, as I'm interested as well.

I haven't shot either of them but I have fondled and held both. As much as I dislike Sig, they both felt of equal quality. The Kimbers main price difference is in the crimson trace grips. I also believe the Kimbers frame is aluminum on the covert series but I may be mistaken. IMO you can't go wrong with either decision.

My Sig is gorgeous. Shot a Kimber before, like my Sig better. Some purists don't like the adjustable target sights, but I do. If you are looking at a competition pistol, you might look elsewhere and forget these 2. This one goes bang at the range and is beautiful which is all I ask of my pistols, so far.

I've never had or shot a Sig and the same held true for the Kimber as well,;) 'till very recently that is. I lucked into a Kimber Super Match II, Custom Shop special:D.

I knew it was decent quality but never realized it was top of their line until I called Kimber in Kalispell Montana:D:D.

I have and have had a number of 1911s including a couple of Gold Cups but I have to say, the trigger pull on my new Kimber is the sweetest of any I've had.

Is that a S&W 645/745? If so, how do you like it?

I assume it's the one on the bottem left you speak of?

If so, It's a S&W modrl 4506. It belonged to a shooting buddy of mine that passed away:( and it was one of a few of his I purchased from the estate. Double action first shot feature, a decent shooter but it doesn't feel quite as good as others out there. I picked it up more for sentimental reasons than anything and just 'roar' a few through it on 'occasions' and ;)reminisce. Just picked up a few extra mags for it at a recent gun show:).

I have a Custom II TL. Love it. The trigger is amazing. Shoots great, very accurate, even in my hands. I've never shot a sig 1911, it was on my list when I was looking for a 1911 but I went with the kimber and haven't regretted it once. The sig tac pac is a nice looking 1911 though. I don't really like the look of the external extractor, but that's just me.

I've had a Kimber Eclipse Target ll and a Sig 1911 Commander.....I still have the Sig...In my opinion..The Sig has the better trigger and I found it more accurate for me.I also liked the fact that it came with a stainless barrel vs the Kimber...

If serviceability is important to you, I'd stay away from Sig. I have one and loved it. The external extractor broke on it around March. I paid the $80 for a new one and have yet to recieve it. Everytime I ask i get the same reply "Sig parts can be slow to get". To me waiting almost a year, (and counting), for a basic part is unacceptable.

I had the rear site base that fit's in the dovetail develope rust on my Kimber and was told basically that it would be too expensive to replace because it was a meprolite site,I told them(customer service) I only needed the "base" that fit's into the dovetail, but they said they were all one unit...I was then told to just sand it down with fine sandpaper and re-blue it..lol...Wonderful customer service there...

Dont know who you bought it from but all you had to do is Just buy it direct from EGW... Takes 2 weeks to get ..... I have a spare one so this way my factory one will never break... lol ... Parts are easy to get so I dont know why you would state otherwise.

My Vote is for Sig... Its a tac driver ... It can shoot better then me... I sold my glock after buying this gun...

I have never shot either one, but a guy i respect told me that it is common to have to replace some internal Kimber parts to get them running properly. But 1911 internal parts are easy to source.

I have a SIG 220 and like they way it shoots.

I severely doubt that you'll have an issue with either choice. I have a Kimber custom target II and its wonderful. Ive handled the sigs but have not shot them. You should post pics of what you get...
