Has anyone tried the Kimber 1911 .22 conversion kit on a Springfield Armory GI .45 ACP standard 1911A1? I love my GI and I'm thinking of trying the .22 unit.

Many thanks from Alberta!

i have the kimber rimfire on a kimber pistol. Give the folks at Kimber a shout. They are very knowledgable about what theirs will or won't fit. I enjoy mine. My personal thoughts are that it will fit ,but better to ask the pro's ,its only a call away.

Your Springfield 45 shouldn't be different than any other 45, it will work fine.Kimber conversions work with my Norinco 45, so a Springfield should be good to go.

I have a Colt .22 conversion unit I just put on a Springfield GI frame that I recently got off the EE. The frame was bare when I received it. A few parts from the parts box & I was in business. The Colt .22 unit goes on perfect & is a very nice fit:

You shouldn't have any problem with the Kimber .22 kit.... ;)

conversion kits

I inherited a 45 from my dad with the 22 long conversion kit. I started shooting it when I was 10. Either the 45 or the 22 barrel works great and still do. In my opinion this is a great way to go. You get the same trigger pull, same grip, same sites. The only difference is cost. If you can hit it with a 22 you should have no problem with the bigger barrel.

still one of the best outfits out there.

The second world war was testiment to its longevity.
