hey fellas, I'm about to reload for my Kimber and I wanted to ask . is this Kimber action a 'match grade' action? chamber?

my once fired cases look in good nick as opposed to my Remington once fireds, is this so

thanks

WL

Not sure about the entire line-up, but my previous long master classic had a match grade chamber. Their website should mention if your chamber is. I doubt the actions are truly match grade and many would say a cry action will never match a push feed for accuracy potential.

Only because they don't know any better.

All my Kimbers have straight chambers on the snug side. Cases seem to have little or no run-out. In the absence of a legal definition "match-grade " is whatever they say it is. As for the action being match grade, well its no BAT or Surgeon or TAC 408 but it also weighs a portion. I wouldn't hang a benchrest barrel, or truck axle on one.

Nah the intention was not to Weld on a truck Axle or have it compete in benchrest or anything silly.

If by definition it is not match grade, it must be close to a straight chamber with minimal tolerances...?

I an Lee Collet Die sizing my Cases now for this 7mm08, and find the Cases did not need trimming after 1 firing from factory, but it stems a little deeper than that.
I see the Load data for the powder I am using is quite close Min to Max, So I wanted to confirm if my thinkin is correct, that with a tight chamber, minimal tolerances, there is going to be OR Can Be , more pressure per GR of powder..... as opposed to say X brand with mass production rifles?

So would it be common to find a Warm load before the Max in this situation? and any advice?

40gr MIN
43.5gr MAX

139gr H.IL

Cheers

I see what you're getting at and you may be right. Start at the bottom and don't be too surprised if you don't get to the max.

My 22/250 matches the velocity given for the max load of IMR 4895 and 52 gr given on the Hodgdons site and does it with the minimum (starting load).

My .338 Win mag exceeds the speeds given for the 215, 225 and 250 grain bullets with charges well sort of the maxes on the Hodgdons site. The 250 in particular is 1 1/2 from max and 170 fps faster than the listed velocities. (IMR 4350)

My .270 WSM takes the max charge without issue but the velocities give my .270 Weatherby a run for its money. (IMR7828)

My .300 WSM only wants to take 1 grain over minimum, but matches the top velocity with that charge. (H4350) which is your ADI AR2209.

The 7mm Rem matches the book speed with the max load. In a world where many people have accepted that their handloads are always going to come up short of the book speeds, just matching the book might seem like an accomplishment. I could keep playing with it but higher velocity is what my STWs are for.

This is the sort of thing that I kind of expect from my custom barrels chambered with good reamers, and the Kimbers as well. Good things happen when you have a real barrel.

Sowhat i thought would happened , ended up being the case.

High pressure at 42 gr

Min load / 40gr shot close to moa with a flyer haha so itl do for hunting.

Cheers

For what you pay for a Kimber, you should at least expect a match trigger, trued action, concentric chamber & barrel, accurate, and excellent bedding.
