As they say folks, just the facts.
Ordered in a brand new 8400 AT from Korth and received it less than a month ago.
I have been messing around with the new toy and having some fun "adjusting".
Kind of playing it by ear as the rifle manual that came with the gun was a generic Kimber 8400 type.
No reference to the Mcmillan adjustable stock.
I have a 6.5 to 20 Leupold on it which has a picky (in my opinion) eye relief.
Cheek piece up and down.
Spacers for length of pull out and back in.
Well, yesterday I took all the LOP spacers out trying to find the best adjustment for shooting prone with a sling.
I was turning in the 2 Allen screws to bring the recoil pad flush with the butt of the rifle.
The top screw felt a little tight so I was watching to be careful that I was pulling the pad in square and even.
All seamed ok until I was packing up to go home.
The top screw had broken through the stock in the adjustable cheek piece cavity.
Now the cheek piece would not go back down which meant that the bolt could not be removed which meant it would not go back in the case.
Backed out the top screw to relieve the pressure so that the cheek piece would go down.
Contacted my local dealer that ordered in the gun and they told me to contact Korth.
The Korth rep told the local dealer that this was not a warranty issue because I had adjusted the length of pull and I am not a qualified gunsmith.
The local dealer is trying to get the stock fixed for me BTW.
So, this is what I would like to pass along.
Be careful if you take all the spacers out for the length of pull on you Mcmillan A3-5 stock.
You will need a shorter screw or cut down the factory one on the top.
The bottom one will not be an issue.
Second, if you have any problems with adjusting the length of pull, I hope you are a qualified gunsmith.
Best of luck and good shooting!
