KIMBER Custom 11 / Stainless 11...what a NICE 1911 (PICS on page 3)

The CFO said I could have it my Fri/Mon...I hate waitng, but will be worth it :). I also picked up a high-end Premuim leather holster from Galco International, Brownells.com carries their product line, but only had "right-hand only" models, so I went on their official website and ordered online.

I got a nice tan leather Royal Guard / inside the pants holster and matching tan leather double mag carrier. The holster looks immaculate, and I'm guessing it will feel perfect tucked inside my pants on the small of my back / left side. Also waitng for my mags...grabbed a bounch of Wilson Combat Elite 8-round black, and Shooting Star Classic 8-round blue Gov't Model. Oh, ya.... 4 boxes of 230 gr. ball...already got it :)

I ended up selling my Kimber to Leo listed above. I ended up getting the CF Para. I liked the Kimber more than the Para:redface: but I'm glad the Kimber is working well for Leo.

Just picked it up :) , my Brownells order did'nt come in yet so while I was at my favorite toystore I picked up two Chip McCormick power 10's...I was all happy, went to the range at around 1130pm tonight and it was closed for a week...f*ck (Range Burlington).

Anyway, here it is, I like the factory black rubber panel grips, but tried on the Hogue, I also have nice cocobolo/walnut/wood grips, what do you guy's think for grip-wise...? looks good?, or should I put on different grips, I kinda like the Hogue rubber finger grooves, looks more "tactical" I think. When I field stripped it for cleaning I was very impressed, great crafstmanship, and fit&finish are superb, very tight slide to frame, aswell as the slide/barrel/bushing fit...I'm guessing this pistol will produce very tight groupings...we'll see in a week or so :)

I don't personally like the look of the grips, but you should make the pistol wear whatever makes you most comfortable shooting it, not what makes it prettier :D

But the pistol itself is a thing of art. I love those Kimbers!

I don't personally like the look of the grips.....most comfortable...........love those Kimbers!

+1 on the looks (not the prettiest) but like PB, have ordered exactly the same grips. These Hogues definitely improve how the gun fits in my hand. Also have these on my 226, CZ85 and both my Paras.
PB, a good looking Kimber you got there. Wasn't able to shoot mine yet and hoping to do so by early next week. Range report to follow. Happy Kimber shooting fellas!!!!

I tried out the wood grips I have (factory Colt/series 70 repro. stock grips) and I like the look alittle better, looks more classic/professional (looks like the Kimber Royal Model)...still not as beautifull as my COLT though :)

I really like the wooden grips a lot more.... And as for your colt! WHAT A BEAUTY..... uhh I was going to wait until after christmas to buy one but I can't wait any longer... nEED KIMBER NOW! Congrats on that beautiful baby!

I had three 1911 Colts (70 & 80), one A1 Nork, one Para SSP, one Springfield A1 SS loaded model, one AO Thompson SS also fully loaded (all are sold right now)....but NOTHING beat the quality, accuracy and handling and most of all, how was made this 1911 Kimber SS.
Kimber will STAY with me forever ....and believe me this pistol it's a piece of art 100% !!!

BTW, keep the Cocobolo wood grips, looks awsome!

Al Simmons in Hamilton has a couple models left...a Custom 11 Stainless both in .45 and 9mm, they might have another black model in stock, give em a shout. The stainless 11 is going for $1,350.00 for the .45.

The pic with the hogue grips is the exact setup I had, I loved it but unfortunately the 1911 platform doesn't fit my hand all that great, so I sold it :(

I think that the hogue grips give it that more tactical look... In-fact if you had night sights on that bad boy that would be pretty much the same gun selected by LAPD SWAT...

P&D has Kimbers in stock

Looking at thier website it looks like P&D in Edmonton has a bunch in stock, 9mm & .45. My TCII bought from them was a beauty and if I hadn't just bought that S&W Pro series I'd be calling them up for a 9mm Stainless.

Ya, that's what I plan on doing...getting factory Kimber selected night sights (meprolight) night sights for it, then it will be complete. I would also like to get ambidextrous safety because I'm a lefty, but too much work, and I dont want some sloppy gunsmith scratching the sh*t out of my frame. Having the sights changed is bad enough...just because I'm such a nut, and would be devestated if the slide was scratched during the swap.

Range Report Kimber Custom TLE/RL II

Been hoping for decent weather to try out the Kimber to see if it will be as good as WolfStk's Custom Stainless II. Finally today, the sun decided to show itself and off to the range first thing this morning to check her out and chrony my loads. Having waited a week, followed PB's lead and got the Hogue grips plus installed a magwell. Everything else is stock (no trigger work-yet!).

After shooting 4 mags to get used to the sighting and trigger, here are the results with the final 5th 8-round mag. Used 200 gr. Lead SWC with 5.4 grn of W231. Target size is 5.5" from a distance of 15 mtrs. Weaver stance, with semi-rapid intervals of less than 1 second. My Paras shoot as good but they both have had trigger work (now around 2 1/2 lbs.). Nevertheless, the Kimber is tighter with a seemingly better recovery from recoil.

Pretty pleased with the results and WolfStk, now owe you a beer session for steering me into the world of Kimber!!! :D
