I got a chance to try out a kimber custom in both .45 and the .22lr.

Now the owner bought both from a less than reputable shop and has been having feed issues on both and on the .45 some of the parts coming lose. This isn't common with the kimber customs is it?

Other then the feed issues they seemed like beautiful guns and I didn't recognize any difference in felt recoil over shooting my g17. Are all 1911s this way with felt recoil or does kimber bring something special to the table?

I have a Kimber Custom II 45 with about 1000 rounds through it and the Kimber 22 conversion kit with several thousand rounds through it. The 45 has run 100 percent, and the 22 conversion has run 100 percent with winchester 333 white box. Zero complaints from me.

What he said...cept I don't have the .22 just the 45...flawless 2000 rounds through it!

i bought a kimber raptor 2 years ago. I have put about 2000 rounds through it. my only issues have been a month after i bought it after 300 rounds or so the thumb safety snapped in half. i know its a cast part but it still made me mad as hell. kimber warrantied it and i got it back in about 5 weeks but it really bugged me. the other problem i had is the grip screw bushings came loose from the frame so no matter how tight i made the screws, the grips would still be a bit loose. i had that warrantied and they are still loose so i just gave up and dealt with it myself. its fine now, but for a 1700$ that is a bit rediculous. i think mine was a lemon because i haven't heard many complaints. my .22 kit from kimber has been great. over 2500 rounds and no problems.

Hmmm sounds like he had two lemons as well. I have no doubt kimber would help him fix it but he sounded like he was just going to live with it. The gunship he bought it from gouged him about $400 too so I think in general he just didn't want to deal with it anymore. Sad, they were nice pistols
