I’ve done a bit of digging, but haven’t found a clear answer.

Is there a difference between a Kimber 8400 and an 84M when comparing 2 piece scope bases?

I thought I’ve used 8400 factory kimber bases on an 84m before, but maybe to wrong bases were in the package.

I believe the 8400 action is a larger DIA. that the 84M action.
That would not allow the bases to fit the curvature of the actions properly.
I am not sure about screw spacing.

Ah, Right.
That’s i part I hadn’t thought of.

The spacing seems the same, the screw size seems the same, but the action diameter would be different.

Just picked a Hunter up in 257 Roberts

The 8400 is an animal of its own, so in short the 8400 action mounts can’t be used on the 84M or 84L action, but as I found out this last week the 84M and 84L are inter changeable.

Interchangeable yes, but the 84L talleys come with an extended front instead of the normal one that comes with the 84M.

Can't wait till you let us know how it shoots.
One day I will have a Kimber in 257.
65 next July seems like it would make a good birthday present to me.

Will provide a range report at some point.

40 for me this year, and this was my present :) .

I’ve felt for a while now that my ideal hunting arsenal would consist of a 25cal, a 30cal, and a 35cal. I’m a stainless fan so now with the Roberts, my Scout, and my Whelen I hope to just focus on using them.... instead of the never ending hunt for that next best thing.

At one time I had the 243, 308 and 358. Thought that would work for me, but as you said, I was wrong.

Currently 3, 257's and apparently that is not enough. Still longing for another.

That age old question, How many do I need, referring to the new math, X+1. Currently solving X.
